6/16, 17, 18  Windfest/ Freenzy,  I get to be race director, it is not my thing.  Still get some time on the water 5.8-5.2M mainly on the FS 101, rode the tandum with jerry and Whit Poor.  A fun weekend all around.

6/19      Windsurf 5.2 WD  some freestyle action with Mike Burns, and co.

6/23      Windsurf Kalmus (yes you have it right)  first kalmus session in 2 years.  Had some fun on the 5.2.  Went out to ride the ferry wake but run down by the fast ferry.

6/27      Kite South Village nice am session on the 14M with paul V.

6/29      Windsurf 5.2 Forrest.  First forrest session of 06.  went crazy with jerry working on shuvit and vulcans.  Several back loop attempts but tough wave set up with on shore winds.  Could have been on a 4.7 at the end.

6/30    Windsurf 5.2 WD evening session.  Windy and warm.

 

May 2006

5/7 - Kite 14M  Multiple down winder.  Corp to Mayflower, then May flower to Chapin.  Steady wind, some nice waves to slash. 

5/9 - Windsurf, Area 51, 4.7M RWW76,  Nice waves

5/13 - Windsurf Area 51, 4.2m RWW76   E wind, big waves logo to mast high but onshore wind makes riding tricky.  JE, Jeff S. Paul V, and a bunch of kiters

5/14 - Windsurf Area 51, 4.2M RWW76  E again but just enough N to make it better.  Outter waves were 20-25ft.  Jerry looks lit a dot on the face.  Easy to get out and terrifying on the way in.  JE, Jeff S, Paul V, Rick U makes the rip from Westport.

5/16 - Windsurf Area 51 4.7, FSW84, wanting the 76.  Super nice wave for riding,  very strong gusty winds. Just Jeff S  and me.

5/19 - Kite 14M WD,  Nice to play in the pond, over powered at the end.   Got my first real air time with the kite.

5/20 - Windsurf WD 4.7M  RWW76 and Fsw84.  Wind was up and down.  Warm and lot of people out.

5/21 - Windsurf Hardings to Monomy and back,  Crossed the flats, Rode the waves down wind on the ocean side and back upwind inside to hardings,  3.5hr marathon session with Paul V.

5/25 - Kite 14M area 51.  Nice big slick, worked on some jumps,  JE, BB, Luke and Des

5/27 - Surf  Longboard at Nauset.  First surf of the year, glassy waist high waves.  Went with JE.

5/29 - Kite 14M  Hardings,

 

May be the best April of all time for wind and good weather.  14+ sessions is 30 days not too bad.

  • 4/30 Area 51 Kite bonus rode the 12M Vegas, tried to get a wave ride, lost the board, lucky to get it back.  Thanks Phil.

  • 4/30  Area 51 Windsurf 5.2 FSW84  bigger waves and lighter winds.  Most rode in the gallery at high tide.  More kites than windsurfers.  Went outside twice, denied once.  Waves were double over head. Very light wind but killer wave rides.

  • 4/29 Mayflower Kite 14M  down wind in small wave to Chapin, play in the slick for a while then back up wind to Mayflower.

  • 4/29 Area 51 Windsurf  4.7 RWW76  El Norte again,  small waves lots of current made it tough to stay up wind.  Sunny and warm.

  • 4/26 WD  Windsurf 5.2  Went for a short after work session,  thought I would kite but too windy, nice.

  • 4/23 WD  Windsurf 4.7  RWW76  Small wave for jumping, nearly stuck 2 back loops in about 20 attempts, good crew on the water.

  • 4/21  Mayflower windsurf 5.2 FSW84, should have gone to Area 51 but not enough time.

  • 4/18  Area 51  Windsurf 4.7M and RWW76  El Norte,  Best wave day of 06 so far.  Outer bar was logo to mast high, inside shoulder high.  Easy to ride.  Scary going out over powered on the 4.7 and some hollow sets to go through, Paul V.

  • 4/16  Mayflower  Kite 14M  Play in the small surf, then a killer lunch of Tappas,  Phil, Luke, Scott S. Todd, Jimmy C

  • 4/13  Area 51  windsurf 5.2M and FSW84 SW wind,  Crappy waves but worm and nice to be out.

  • 4/10  West Den Kite Light wind, Tried the 16M vegas, Like being tied to a truck.  Phil, Todd, and Marc.

  • 4/7  Area 51  Windsurf  5.2 Small waves SW wind, some nice riding and jumping.

  • 4/4  Windsurf Hardings 4.7M and RWW76  warm and windy,  crossed to Monomoy to check out the cut through.  Jerry Jeff S. and Mike.

  • 4/1  Kite 14M  Hardings to the super slick.  warm and very foggy Had to walk down as the wind was very light.  Able to kite back.  Jerry, Jimmy C and Luke.

 

  • 3/31      Windsurf Area 51 5.2M FSW84  nice wind, small waves but good for slashing, tried some backloops but hard to do in side off wind
  • 3/26      Kite Mayflower - 14m got about an hour of wind.  Almost tangled with Todd
  • 3/23      Kite Corporation 14m first kite session ever at Corp.  Some small waves Jimmy C came and wind dies. He got a nice swim.
  • 3/12      Kite Area 51 - 14m maiden voyage. Big slick and some knee to waist high waves that were spaced about 50 ft apart.  Killer rides
  • 3/10      Windsurf Area 51 4.2-3.7
  • 2//17/6 Windsurf Area 51 3.7 RWW76  Wicked windy.  Blown off the 3.7.  Side shore wind good for some massive air time.  Too windy to ride any waves.
  • 2/6/06 Windsurf Area 51 5.2M FSW84  Nice side off wind, and waist to shoulder waves for killer down the line wave rides.  Got worked a few time going out.

  • 1/28      Chapin  Kite 14M.  Rode in some ankle deep slicks.  Water was cold but we never really got wet.
  • 1/21      Area 51, Windsurf 4.2m Overpowered but not too much. Slightly side off wind.  Nice waist to should high waves for some down the line rides, Matt E and Paul V out.
  • 1/14      Area 51, windsurf 4.7 FSW84,  super windy. No gloves needed. Good size swell average about head high, Jerry, Luke, Jeff S. on the water.
  • 1/9        Area 51, windsurf 5.2M and FSW84.  Side off wind, some small waves.
  • 12/2/05 Windsurf 4.7M, Harding Beach Chatham, check off December, scored at least one session in every month of 05.  Out with Jerry and Mike. Nice wind for about 2 hrs,  big black cloud came and killed the wind.
  • 11/29/05 Kite 14M  Area 51, Nice warm air, Water not too bad either, no gloves. A little too much wind to start but then nicely powered.  Finally got some air time, but numerous crashes me and the kite.  Hit the wave zone once.  Nice surf but adds a new dimension of complexity to kiting.  Jerry, Barry, Brian and Kathleen also out.
  • 11/20/05   Kite 14M  Hardings, Chatham  Nice wind, warm air cold water.  High tide made for some choppy conditions. Did an unintentional double kite loop a wild ride.  Good turn out for late Nov.
  • 11/16/05   Windsurf Area 51 5.2M fsw84.  Started with the kite but way too windy.  Nicely powered on the 5.2.  Super smooth on the inside.  Some nice little waves out side for jumping and smacking, wicked speed runs along the sand bar.  Wish we had a GPS.  Warm no glove no booties.  Sunset and a killer moon rise.
  • 11/13/05  Kite Area 51 14M.  Area 51 delivers the best kite day of the year.  S wind and outgoing tide combined to make a huge glassy slick.  Perfection for tricks, aerials and speed runs.  Jerry, Phil, Todd, Barry, Holly, Yokie, Scott, and Santi. (Peter) 
  • 11//6/05 Kite First Encounter Eastham.  14M Nice session into sunset.  Smooth water, fluky wind, tried the Naish surf board nice ride. (Peter)
  • 11/3/05 Windsurf West Dennis.  Big Thursday.  Seems like we only sail 4.2 or 3.7.  Today was 3.7 and at the top end of that.  Big jumps were easy on the out side.  Had couple of speed runs in the pond.  Water has really cooled off.  (Peter)
  • 11/1 Kite WD,  Nice session, getting toe side rides down.  Tried to pull the trigger.  Big air is elusive.  Warm, water is getting cooler fast.  Booties soon ugh! (Peter)
  • 10/26    Windsurf  Corporation,  4.2M on RWW76.  Small waves but nice clean faces for riding.  Plenty of wind for boosting big jumps.  Cool air and water. Sunny, Jerry, Mike, Adam, Paul V, Kathleen, Robin on the water. (Peter)
  • 10/25    Windsurf Area 51, Hurricane Wilma,  Too windy in AM,  Arrived at low tide, storm surge looks like high tide,  Sailed 4.2 and RWW76, Some times good, some insanely overpowered.  Nice wave for riding and jumping.  Inside was head to logo high.  Outside not possible, 100 yards of foam and then some seriously large waves, never went out to the big stuff, the current in the break running at 10-15 kts. Do not loose your gear,  Jerry, Mike and Bill on the water. (Peter)
  • 10/23    Windsurf Corporation Beach,  Best Corp day of 05, not many to choose, Best Corp day ever in the top 5 for sure.  4.2M sail RWW76, plenty of wind, side shore, very nice wave setting up just out side for some great down the line rides, big ramps for jumping on the way out.  Chilly air, water still warm.  Good crew on the water, Paul, John, Luke, Des, Mike, Phil, Jerry, Marc, a few others.   • 10/22    Windsurf Area 51, An uninspiring session on the 5.2, Cold, dead on shore wind, no waves, rain. (Peter)
  • 10/16   Big Sunday.  Hardings Beach Chatham.  West wind Big ramps big winds and big air.  3.7M Surge and RWW76.  First outing for 05 on the new 3.7.  Nice stable sail takes 40MPH gusts like a dream.  Every one goes for huge jumps. Kiters can have all of the fun.  Jerry, Mike L, Matt E. Luke, Des, Bob S. and more enjoying the mid October sun. (Peter)
  • 10/13    Area 51  ENE wind.  Not the best direction but still fun.  4.7M  Nice zone between the washing machine and a huge out side break.  Outer waves at 10-15ft, too late in the day and onshore winds kept us in the safe zone.  Jerry, Mike, Luke, Bill on the water. (Peter)
  • 10/12    Bayview ENE wind, Knee to shoulder waves side shore, 4.2M  Plenty of power for some big air time.  Some front side wave rides.  10-12 sailors out. (Peter)
  • 10/9      Day 2 of waterman, Windsurf area 51 5.2M again looked promising.  First run was straight for the break.  Big enough to be scary looking, no wind in the surf. Big swim, played on the inside until the wind died then switched to NW,  Moved to Mayflower Kite 14M,  crappy waves with dead onshore wind, huge slicks once the tide came in.  Summer to cool fall sailing in less than an hour. 6 hours on the water.   • 10/8      Day 1 of waterman. Windsurf Area 51 5.2M, looked promising, but ended up too light to plane, rode some sloppy waves for a while then gave up,  Moved to WD windsurfed 4.7 on the RWW 76, huge turn out, very warm,  Then joined the TD2 in the pond, rode the 12M crossbow, nice kite, had some killer high speed turns in the slick.  9 hours on the water.   • 10/7      Kite First Encounter Beach,  looks like a cool spot.  Got the kite in the air with Jerry and Bill but it was not to be. (Peter)
  • 9/29  Windsurf   Area 51, 4.7M and RWW 76,  Side on wind, some nice waves for riding and jumping. (Peter)
  • 9/26    Area 51, Windsurf 4.7m RWW76.  Nicely powered, wind slightly side off.  Waves waist to head high and choppy.  Great for boosting big air.  Some wave riding on occasional sets.  Jeff and Mike on the water, Jerry does the down wind ride from Forrest. (Peter)
  • 9/25   Kite Area 51.  14M kite SSW wind slicks early then some nice waves for riding and jumping.  Wind a little fluky.  Water was warm and so clean. Jerry, Luke, Matt W, and Jimmy C. (Peter)
  • 9/23   Windsurf  Bayview.  Big turnout.  Sailed 5.2 on RWW76 then FSW84.  Nice waves for jumping, not so good for riding.  Wind on a steady decline from start to finish.  Beautiful day. (Peter)
  • 9/21 Kite WD. Nicely powered on the 14M.  Worked on toe side rides and toe to back side transitions.  Water is still warm but air is cooler may be the last shortie day of 05. (Peter)
  • 9/20 Windsurf  West Dennis.  Went for wind and we were not disappointed.  Super charged on the 5.2 most of the time.  Choppy water at first be some nice on shore waves late PM.  Big turn out. (Peter)
  • 9/17   Windsurf:  Ophelia was sort of a dud, Sailed Chapin 5.2m FSW85.  Good jumping, hard wave riding in onshore wind, lots of kites and windsurfers on the water. (Peter)
  • 9/12 Windsurf  Harding’s 4.7M on the JP RWW76, Finally some real wind, nice side on waves, good for some big jumps.
  • 9/10  Kite Mayflower 14M kite, best wind was early, wore a shorty, and got very cold, fall air is here, water still warm

  • 8/31  Sailed a 3.7m with Tom, Brian and Paul in Megansett.  Great swell, but a little gusty.  (Jim)
  • 8/28 Kite SV to WD, 14M Rhino very nice kite,  Windsurf WD, some freestyle on the 101 with a 5.8. (Peter)
  • 8/27  Windsurf West D.  5.8 on the 100L freestyle.  Too light and fluky to kite.  New move of the day was a switched stance duck jibe, will be fun to try planning. (Peter)
  • 8/25  Windsurf Chapin 5.2M.  Should have gone with the 5.8M but had fun riding some small waves. (Peter)
  • 8/21   Kite 14M WD nicely powered wind average for the day was 15-20.  Did a down winder to SV had lunch then out for a 2nd session, really getting a feel for the kite and the ability to carve the board. Kite explosion at the end, will need stitches to repair, but a good day. (Peter)

  • 7/27 Double Duty- sailed 5.6 and Tabou Rocket 125, made a few jibes but the wind fizzled out at about 3pm. I packed it up and headed to Kalmus. It was blowing 18-23 knots so I Rigged the Blast 5.6 and jumped on the Tabou X-Rocket 105 and was way powered up.  A lot of World Sails out on the water.... sailed for about an hour then the wind kicked to 22-29 knots. I downhauled about an inch, and outhauled a little and I was back at it until dark. A GREAT day! (Tom Taylor)

  • 6/19 WD Freestyle Frenzy  NNE wind very gusty.  Tried the new JP slalom very fast but a tough board to ride.  Frenzy was a big hit.  Mike Burns, Jamie Clark and Bill Reid on the podium. 1,2,3 (Peter)
  • 6/18 WD Freestyle Frenzy.  North wind and light.  We all spin to win.  Competition is tough with a field of 16 competitors. (Peter)
  • 6/17 West Dennis Nice warm-up day for the Freestyle Frenzy.  5.8m on the FS 101.  Tried the new Tabou freestyle, nice board.  (Peter)
  • 6/12/  Windsurf WD.  5.2M and FS101 the FSW84.  Wind built up nicely.  Tried about 50 vulcans mostly on starboard and some port. Should be able to slide on at the frenzy if we get some good wind. Not as many sailors as Sat.  (Peter)
  • 6/11 Windsurf WD 5.2 and FS101.  Nicely powered on the 5.2 most of the time.  Remembered most of my freestyle moves.  20-30 people on the water. Retrieved a wayward kite with Todd.  (Peter)
  • 6/10 Windsurf Forrest 5.2M on the FSW 84.  About an hour of freestyle in decent wind, switched to the 14M kite, down winder to Hardings with Jerry.  (Peter)

  • 5/23/05 Windsurf Area 51, NNE winds, very cold water, 4.7M Worldsail and FSW84 again. Sell every thing else this seems to be all I use. Frozen hands and feet. Jerry, Mike and Paul in full rubber and toasty. (Peter)

  • 5/21 Area 51. New 4.7m Worldsail Surge delivers out standing performance. A top ten day except for the rain. Side shore. Wave riding every thing from waist to should high glassy peelers to mast high crushers depending on location. Getting the front side riding dialed. Broke the Surf 78 on my second jump. It is repairable, 4 years of hard wave sailing. Paul V and Jeff S in on the action. (Peter)

  • 5/10 Kalmus, Sailed the Blast and Surge 7.0m in gusty winds from 2 until 3:30pm. The Wind picked up and filled
    in so I rigged a 5.7m Surge and sailed until 6:30. (Tom)
  • 5/9 Windsurf Area 51  4.2 and Surf 78 sort of manageable sailed the pond, Phil loaned me a 70 and 3.8.  Had some nice runs in the surf.  Jerry rode a logo high breaker that came from now where.  Jumping was insane. (Peter)

  • 4/26  WD kite session on the 14M and the 129 Joy rider.  Stayed up wind, only crashed the kite once.  Phil, Todd and Frankie out. (Peter)
  • 4/24 Made it a double header with a kite session at WD.  Got some great rides with the 14M kite and the 179 CM board stayed upwind.   Ready to try the 130cm next session.  No booties required at WD. (Peter)

  • 4/7 Chappy - Bic Techno2 148 with 6.7 Blast fully powered from 2p-3p. Winds and swell continued to build and become onshore. Toasty warm and dry in a Bare Polar drysuit. (Tom)

  • 3/30 - Sailed secret spot rigged 4.7.  Road one wave in dying wind.  Switched to the 5.0 trainer kite did some nice body drags in the pond.  Bring on the big kite.  Jerry, Barry and Luke out kiting. (Peter)
