October 1997 ( a blast from the past) - Andy's taking care of
business in Hatteras these days. Maybe he can get Robby to come back and
join him for a loop fest.
10-31 Most sailors took advantage of some early
afternoon wind and sailed on 6.5m sails. Charlie & Keith caught a late afternoon
session at the cove on 5.0m sails.
10-27 Steve was up early and grabbed an early
morning session across from the hole. He had the waves and the wind all to himself 7:30am
until 9:00am. Later in the afternoon Robby Naish put on a great sailing exhibition at the
same spot. Throwing huge airs and slashing up the Hatteras waves in front of hundreds of
spectators. The wind was SW at 20-25mph.
10-27 Again - After a hard day of sailing over two
hundred sailors gathered at Sailworld Cape Hatteras to meet and talk to Robby
Naish. Robby
answered questions for about two hours and signed autographs until about 11:00pm. A GREAT
day in Hatteras.
10-25 Light South Wind came up just before dark
giving one of our customers the chance to demo the Fanatic Bee 294 and a 7.5M sail.
10-22 Northwest wind 15mph. Good conditions for 7.5m
sails and slalom boards.
10-21 Northwest wind continued blowing all day until
about 5:00 PM. Most sailors spent the day on 5.5m sails. What a great beginning to the
week.
10-19 Wow! It's windy down here! Early morning
sailors started on 5.5m sails and by 3:00 couldn't keep 3.0m sails on the water. Wind
meters at the shops were reading gusts into the 70's with steady 40's.
10-18 The guys who hit it early this morning got the
best sailing. At sunrise the wind was blowing steady 5.0m conditions, by 9:00 the wind
faded never to return. I'm writing this on 10-19 and it's blowing hard out of the North. I
will give a complete report on Monday.
10-16 Winds blew out of the Northwest this morning
at about 15-20mph. Sailors used 7.5m sails until 2:00pm then the wind died off.
10-15 By gathering all the sailors together for the
hugely successful Chris Wyman Clinic, Sailworld has satisfied the wind Gods and they have
returned the wind to Hatteras. We are expecting wind for the next five days. Today slalom
sailors were on 6.5m sails in the morning and 5.5m sails by the afternoon.
10-12 Early morning sailors got the best sailing on
7.5m sails until the wind faded by early afternoon.
10-11 The wind has returned to Hatteras! A North
wind blew all day with sailors starting the day on 7.5m sails and finishing on 5.5m sails.
10-2 North winds blew all day with sunny skies. Most
sailors were on 6.5m
